In addition to providing several new tax breaks for the shipbuilding industry, US President Donald Trump plans to establish a shipbuilding office in the White House.
In a 100-minute Congressional Address which took place this week in Washington, DC, the US president unveiled the new shipbuilding plans.
Many of the steps previously outlined by the US Trade Representative (USTR) to challenge China's supremacy in shipbuilding are expected to be implemented by Trump in the days ahead, according to intense speculation in the US media.
18 measures, including increasing income from fees on Chinese-built ships and port cranes entering the US, are part of a future executive order, according to the Wall Street Journal.
