Welcome to NEMO’s May newsletter, with contributions from:
Scott Edwards, Chair of Working Group 2: Savannah, Nuclear Safety, Security and Safeguards, on our April workshop, Nuclear Safety Applications at SeaÂ
Meg Dowling, Chair of Working Group 1: Nautilus, Maritime Regulations, on our next workshop, focused on Maritime Regulations for Nuclear Applications at Sea, taking place in London on 8–9 July - please save the date!
Mamdouh El-Shanawany, our Chairman, on the long-awaited launch of the IAEA’s ATLAS initiative in August and why this is such an important moment for our sector
I would also like to warmly welcome our newest members, AMPERA  and Leonardo DRS, to NEMO. As a member organisation, we are only as strong as our members, and it is this collective expertise, across industry, regulators, classification societies and international organisations, that enables us to move from ambition to delivery.
NEMO will be attending the Registro Italiano Navale (RINA) Workshop in Rome on 28 May and Posidonia 2026, taking place in Athens, Greece, from 1–5 June 2026, which will bring together the global shipping industry at one of the world’s most influential maritime exhibitions.
Thank you to all our members who are representing NEMO at events around the world. Please do let us know where you are participating so we can highlight your involvement in future editions of this newsletter.
It is a privilege to lead such a dynamic and growing organisation, and as always, I greatly value your engagement and feedback.
Virginia Crosbie
Managing Director, NEMO
