Launch of the Industrial Advanced Nuclear Consortium

4 Sept 2025

Large industrial consumers of heat and power are represented by the IANC's founding members, which include major corporations such as Chevron, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, Freeport-McMoRan, Nucor, Rio Tinto, and Shell. These members will use their experience in project delivery and integration to provide the conditions for using nuclear technology to supply power and process heat for their particular sectors.

The Consortium's main goals are as follows:

• Standardising sourcing terms and interfaces

• Using design techniques that are risk-appropriate

• Creating business norms and open frameworks

The ultimate goal of these initiatives is to provide industry with a variety of reliable, decarbonised, and competitive heat and power options while also promoting competition, cutting costs, and lowering regulatory and scheduling concerns.

As a developing force for change, the IANC already has top industrial end user businesses on board. To better integrate nuclear and industrial systems, synchronize permitting procedures, and establish commercial models for distributing nuclear-generated power and heat, the Consortium will be working with the larger nuclear community. The IANC is welcoming new Members from across the ecosystem including technology providers, academia, EPCs, and government agencies.
