NEMO is proud to officially announce our two newly elected additional Board Directors, Patrick Ryan, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, ABS and Mark Popplewell, Managing Director at Nuclear Risk Insurers (NRI).
A huge welcome to our newest members, KRISO, FEMTO Energy, RH Marine and Laurent Giles Naval Architects. We are also pleased to share that Tractebel and United Kingdom National Nuclear Laboratory (UK NNL) have upgraded to Full Membership of NEMO.
With its consultative status, NEMO is driving conversations and leading global efforts to set future standards for nuclear safety, security and safeguards. From 27-30 April, NEMO participated in the IAEA International Project on Innovative Nuclear Reactors and Fuel Cycles (INPRO) Transportable Nuclear Power Plants (TNPP) meeting in Vienna, Austria. NEMO attended the IMO Maritime Safety Committee (MSC 111) from 13–22 May, and celebrated the IMO International Day for Women in Maritime, in London, UK. NEMO has fully engaged and is cooperating with the U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy and the Maritime Administration (MARAD) following their announcement to focus on Small Modular Nuclear Reactors (SMRs) for commercial vessels. NEMO is proud to bring a full delegation to the launch of IAEA Initiative ATLAS in August in Washington, U.S.
